"And the men who hold high places,
must be the ones to start;
to mold a new reality,
closer to the heart.." - Neal Peart, Rush
Sometimes a song gets stuck in your head and there's no way of getting it out. Sometimes its a silly song that someone else starts singing and, to your dismay, it clicks in your brain and starts to repeat itself over and over ad nauseum..and it drives you crazy!
Sometimes, however, it's a great song, one you love and enjoy each time you hear it, usually by musicians you feel the same way about. This is one of those songs, "Closer To the Heart", by Rush.
And what does this have to do with the journey of the PickPlus guitar pick, the most versatile pick in the world? I'm not sure as of this paragraph but something might reveal itself in the writing as it evolves. Maybe, maybe not.
Nonetheless it's a very interesting quote, made even more interesting when you realize it was written by the drummer of the band and not the singer or guitar player, not that that is the only way songs are written- they are not- yet it was penned by Neal Peart, drummer-extraordinaire. I guess drummers aren't generally thought of as songwriters..you know, they just beat on things..!
In any case, the song is there and if you click on the title it will open the music video for your listening and viewing reference. Go ahead, i can wait, i'll still be here when the song is over..
So now that you're back(did anyone really go anywhere?) how does this relate to the journey of the PickPlus. I just dont think this one does. This is a part of my journey and the Pick Plus is a part of me, so in that sense its a part of the overall journey yet not in the sense we are all thinking. And that's ok. This blog is about the overall journey and that includes little side trips that i take that have some meaning or some value as it is written. Does this accomplish that standard? I dont know, yet there's a great song to go listen to, if you haven't already, and that is certainly worth the price of admission.
Back to the specific Journey, as it were, and we found ourselves excited at the prospect of filing for a utility patent and the feedback we'd received regarding the picks. It was saying, "if you make them they will come buy them", so we began to explore how to make prototypes and see what pricing should be, based on our costs and the market, and somewhere along the way we discovered the world of 3-D printing and we were off to the races..and picks began to get made!
I think i'm stopping there for this installment, still revving up and warming the engines..much more to come, on topic and off, stream of consciousness
In the meantime, Happy St. Patrick's Day and may all your family and friends be Closer to the Heart!
